Austintown schools have a new tool to provide medical care to students, staff members and the community. The 39-foot Falcon Mobile Med unit came equipped with medical exam rooms and a reception area inside the RV. The district bought the $500,000 with a federal grant from the Department of Health and Human Services.
It contains two fully-equipped medical examination rooms and a reception area. Northside Medical Center is a partner in the project. The Falcon can also be used for other needs around Mahoning County, including emergency management.
“We see it as an impact on our academics and our staff, being able to be at work and not miss work or school,” said Austintown superintendent Vincent Colaluca. “Outreach to the community, it’s definitely a piece that we’d love to outreach to the senior citizens in Austintown.”
